We want your visit to Blue Heron Farm to feel easy, joyful, and stress-free. Below are answers to our most common questions. If you don’t see what you need, we’re always happy to help!
Yes, all tours are by reservation only. This allows us to keep groups small, personal, and calm for both our guests and our mini Highland cows. We do not allow walk-ins as this is a working family farm.
Absolutely. Our tours are designed for all ages — from babies to grandparents. We welcome families and love seeing children experience the farm for the first time. Children must always be supervised by an adult while on the farm. Any child who cannot walk yet must be held by an adult during the tour.
Yes! Our tours are hands-on and include gentle interaction with our mini Highland cows. We will guide you on how to safely meet, pet, and interact with the cows for everyone’s comfort and safety.
Tours typically last 45–60 minutes depending on group size. We keep the pace relaxed so you have time to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
The time slot you book is your private group. There will not be any tours going on at the same time as yours. Group sizes are kept small and personal to ensure a calm experience and meaningful time with the cows.
We recommend:
• Closed-toe shoes
• Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty
• Weather-appropriate layers
• Sunscreen in warmer months
This is a real working farm, so things can get muddy depending on the season!
Tours operate in light rain and cool weather. In cases of severe weather (heavy rain, thunderstorms, extreme heat, or unsafe conditions), we may reschedule your tour for a later date.
If weather forces a cancellation, we will contact you as soon as possible with rescheduling options.
We understand that plans change.
• Cancellations made 24 hours in advance may be rescheduled.
• Late cancellations and no-shows may not be rescheduled.
• All confirmed bookings are non-refundable.
If something unexpected comes up, please reach out — we always try to be as fair and flexible as possible.
All tour groups get access to our UTV/Tram at multiple points during their experience. Rest assured, there will be very minimal walking required.
Our paths are natural pasture and gravel, which can be uneven in places. Strollers and mobility aids may be used, but we recommend contacting us in advance so we can help you plan the most comfortable visit possible.
Yes! We offer private special experiences, photo sessions, birthday parties, small group events, and field trips based on availability.
Please contact us directly for details and pricing.
Yes — and we encourage it! Guests are welcome to take personal photos and videos during their visit. We kindly ask that professional photography sessions be arranged in advance.
Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in and get settled. Late arrivals may miss part of their tour if another group is scheduled afterward.
Yes. Our mini Highland cows are chosen for their gentle, calm temperaments and are handled regularly. As with any animal, we practice guided interaction and safety instruction at all times.
Turn into the farm at the white fence with a sign that says Blue Heron Farm. Go down the long driveway past the farmhouse and you will see a small parking lot with signage that says "Tour Parking". Once parked, head into the farm store to check-in and look around.
